Marcus Kaiser

Photography, Media Arts, Picture Theory and History of Photography
International Relations & Exchange

Since the beginning of his studies (Photography, Soziologie) at the Bielefeld Universities (1989-93), Marcus Kaiser has used artistic works to investigate processes of observation and memory, as well as public and private dealings with historical images and contemporary image forms in photography and related visual media.

During his postgraduate studies at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Karlsruhe (1993-1996) with Thomas Struth, Hans Belting and Boris Groys, Marcus Kaiser expanded his investigations to include mental images, three-dimensional image spaces and virtuality.

Observation, experimentation and modelling in the context of cultural and social image practice are as much the focus of his work as interactive installations on technical image forms and spaces.

Marcus Kaiser has been exhibiting internationally for many years. His works are in public and private collections.
